My philosophy of ministry is based on teaching the true Gospel of Jesus Christ and demonstrating the power and fruit of the Holy Spirit. By doing this, we aim to fulfill the Kingdom Agenda of Love, Mercy, and Justice as written in the Holy Scriptures, and to see it manifested in the daily lives of believers.
To Apostle Chaun, the previously mentioned quotes are more than just motivational statements; they are the philosophy he has carried throughout his life.
In the Beginning
Before he was born, Chaun’s mother, the Late Evangelist Dr. Carolyn L. Johnson, and his father, Elder Henry J. Johnson, Jr., dedicated his life to the church’s ministry work. Just as she did with his two older brothers Henry and Christopher, his mother prayed and promised God that her youngest child would also grow to serve God and His people.
While attending Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, Chaun became a certified teen drug and alcohol counselor, an FCC-licensed disc jockey, a licensed minister under the Full Gospel Holiness Mission Churches and the Church of God in Christ, and a member of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators.
The Ministry Vocation
After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in History from Bradley University, Minister Chaun’s older brother, Pastor Christopher Johnson, felt his calling to become a pastor in 2000. Once he received his calling, he informed Minister Chaun and asked him to serve as the assistant pastor of the newly founded Pentecostal Tabernacle Bible Church. He accepted the call with these words: “As long as you follow Christ, I will follow you.”
Elder Chaun took on new spiritual and career endeavors. Following in the footsteps of both of his parents, he earned his Master’s of Arts degree in Inner City Studies Education from Northeastern Illinois University and an Master of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University Chicago. He has served in education as an elementary, secondary, and post-secondary school teacher, a Dean of Students, a Social Science Department Chairperson, a school principal, and a Lead School Improvement Specialist- a ministry spanning 25 years!
Furthering his education, Chaun earned his Doctoral Degree in Ministry from Midwest Apostolic Bible College, where he also earned an additional Bachelor of Arts Degree in Christian Ministries. He received his Doctor of Divinity and Doctor of Philosophy Degrees from Metropolitan Christian University. He recently received his Educational Specialist Degree with the Superintendent Endorsement from Concordia University Chicago.
In September 2009, Dr. Christopher L. Johnson, selected Elder Chaun to pastor the Pentecostal Tabernacle Bible Church. In 2010, Pastor Chaun established Pentecostal Tabernacle Bible Church-South at its present location on the westside of Chicago. Pastor Chaun changed the name of the church to PENTECOSTAL CHURCH OF HOLINESS in 2011-heeding the voice of God. In 2014, Bishop Herbert Morton consecrated Pastor Chaun a Jurisdictional Bishop in the Love Fellowship International Churches.
The Chief Ministry
By the leading of the Holy Spirit and the laying on of hands, Bishop Chaun Johnson heeded the call to inaugurate the Pentecostal Churches of Holiness International Ecclesiastical Fellowship (PCHIEF), a non-denomination fellowship of churches and ministries in 2012, to which he was affirmed Chief Apostle.
He has served under the mentorship and guidance of Late Bishops: BJ Williams (FGHMC), Reese Price, D. Rayford Bell, (PCAF); Bishops Christopher Johnson (NTAC), JE Moore (PCAF), Apostle Willie Cleveland, and Apostle FW Cullins (KCIFM).
Apostle Chaun reverences the laying on of hands encounter with the late Bishop GE Patterson (COGIC), Pastor Robert James Criss, Father Fred Michael Watson, Sr., and Richard Roberts (Oral Roberts University).
God continues to grant Apostle Chaun favor with men by serving on the Bradley University Advisory Council for Student Leadership and Public Service Board. He was awarded membership with Cambridge’s Who Registry of Executives, Professionals, and Entrepreneurs. He is the Director of Pentecostal Bible Institute and Senior Vice Chancellor of Metropolitan Christian University – Chicago. Above all, Pastor Chaun is saved, sanctified, and filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. As an example of a man of integrity, Pastor Chaun “practices what he preaches” regarding being successful for God.
He loves and cherishes his Nephew-Son Jordan and Daughter-Niece Gena. Surmounting his many accomplishments was joining his wife, Natalie, in Holy Matrimony. His most sincere desire is to serve, minister, and motivate God’s people to be their absolute best in their Christian walk and life, as he walks humbly before God.
